Loot tables v4 — designers in the driver's seat
A hot-reloadable loot system that ships designers a feedback loop measured in seconds.
↳ THE NUMBER
9min → 8s · iteration
Loot table iteration was the second-slowest design loop in our pipeline. We benchmarked it at 9 minutes per change — open editor, edit, save, rebuild, launch, navigate to encounter, kill. After v4, that's 8 seconds.
The trick wasn't cleverness, it was removing every step that wasn't actually computing the change. The editor writes to a watched directory, the game hot-reloads the table on next encounter, and the designer never leaves the game window.
